Purple Cherokee Heirloom Tomato - Refining Recipes

  • Here at the BLOOM Lab, we are working to refine our tomato recipes. We've planted 3 BLOOM's with the same variety of tomato on the same day. We've transplanted small seedlings into each BLOOM and are running each BLOOM on a different grow recipe. We'll evaluate the effectiveness of each recipe based on several factors:

    -Plant health and appearance
-No Blossom End Rot - which can be caused by an imbalance of Calcium
    -Taste
-Quantity and quality of fruit set
    -Texture
    -Longevity of life

Pictures taken 30 days after transplanting:

BLOOM #1: He was leaning a bit towards the door, so we used suction cups and string to tie him back...

All in all, we are very happy with how quickly our tomatoes are growing after being in the BLOOM for only 30 days. More to come on the quest for the perfect tomato!

  • Our tomato recipe testing is going great, we've nailed down a recipe that produced AMAZING, JUICY, and BEEFY tomatoes! The perfect texture with just the right amount of sweetness. Recipe to be uploaded soon.
