Roma Update
-
Yesterday I completed a water change and began aggressive veg stage. Here are some updated photos of the Roma tomato grow. So far everything is going smoothly!
-
@magnolia There's a lotta tomatoes! I would recommend pruning out about half of those leaves, or you will start getting into some high humidity issues as all those leaves start respirating some water. If you need some help picking leaves, let me know! Espeically allthe leaf matter in the middle is not doing the plant a lot of good. Good luck!
-
LOVE to hear that @magnolia! Looking good!
-
@bloomcs They have made a comeback!
-
How are the Roma's looking, @magnolia?
-
Great picture, I bet it'll really take off from here!
-
This plant starting fruiting about 72 days after planting. So many baby tomatoes! -
@jt There are plenty of flowers but I don't see any signs of fruit yet. The temperature stays at about 75. Here are some pictures I took today.
-
Thanks Magnolia, this all looks ok. Can you post plant pictures? Are you getting any fruit set at all? A little blossom drop is normal especially on a plant that is just fruiting. Are your temperatures maintaining about mid 70's?
-
@gr0w3r this is what the recipe is set at.
-
Blossom drop can be a sign of calcium deficiency. Can you post your nutrient ratios from the targets on your recipe?
-
@bloomcs Yes! It's looking very healthy again. Although, I'm noticing that many of the flowers are drying up and dropping off before any fruit is produced. Any thoughts about this?
-
Hi @magnolia -- checking in - Has your plant recovered?
-
@jt Thanks for your help! After dimming the lights - this tomato plant is looking happy again! I'll post photos soon
-
@JT Great! I dimmed the lights - I'll let you all know how it goes moving forward.
-
Yay! THAT we can fix. Please dim your lights to 90% and let's see how it develops over time. To dim, go to menu/advanced settings/lights power and use the slider to adjust light intensity. Different varieties of tomatoes vary widely on how they react to indoor lighting, with intumescence being more of an issue with some varieties than others. Plesae keep us posted as it grows.
-
@JT Based on this description and these photos it seems more characteristic of intumescence. Tiny dots - mostly on leaves close to the sidewalls.
-
@magnolia is it on the leaves next to the side lights? If so, it is likely intumescence (edema), not leaf mold. If it is on the leaves close to the door or the back wall, it may be leaf mold. What are you seeing? Intumescence is tiny dots, leaf mold is often bigger splotches (but definitely identifying is always hard). We'll have different courses of action depending on which one we think it is. See pics below
Intumescence
Leaf Mold
-
@BloomCS Thanks for the info. It is not covering the whole plant, it's mostly on leaves towards the walls of the cabinet. I'll empty the humidifier and wait to hear back. Thanks!
-
@magnolia Oh no! This unfortunately looks like Leaf Mold to me, which is a more common fungal disease for tomatoes growing in enclosed spaces. Let's try to cut down on the humidity by emptying your humidifier. You'll receive an alert when empty and select "Pause for One Week" so that you don't keep getting "Humidifier Low" alerts. Typically, a fungicide spray is also recommended, but let's see if @JT has any other remedies first.
Is it all over the plant or just in a certain region?
