    • BLOOM Cloud Update

      B

      Hello BLOOMers!

As I'm sure many of you have noticed, we are seeing some data issues between our BLOOMs and the cloud. This can impact recipe upload and download and limit what you can see from the APP, but should not impact the day to day running of your BLOOM garden.

Most of our BLOOM cloud development had been done with trusted long term partners in the Ukraine, Belarus and other countries now impacted by the crisis in the Ukraine. For security reasons, we ended relationships with contractors in those areas and are working hard to build expertise in safer zones. BLOOM is complex however, and so far we have not been able to move fast enough to keep all the wheels on all the time. We sincerely believe we will have this resolved soon, and thank you for your patience.

We are sorry for any frustration this downtime causes. We wanted to make sure you knew that we are aware of the issue, and let you know that we are working to get these issues resolved as soon as possible. If you have any other questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out.

    • Permission to come aboard!

      C

This is a timely post, as we are amidst Spring...typically this is the time when growers start their seeds or clones and head to the great outdoors, for their once a year gardening projects. Well Spring, once a year is not for me! The fact that Spring can be year round indoors, has me in a perpetual grin. I know in advance that this is going to be a chatty, detailed laden introduction, but you will never hear from anyone as sincere. This is Jeff from Sherman Oaks, which is basically the same as Los Angeles....as a disclaimer, I am a part owner of this company...yes, today I bought some shares of Scott's Miracle Grow :). O.K., all joking is finished. I really did buy a few shares, and I will hopefully give "Beta users" validation for their brilliance on this unbelievable machine. From my gut and heart, I cannot wait until I am joining you men and women with Bloom. I am a gent who has seen automated grow box companies come and go more than anyone....my journey began in 2016 when through the ether of cyberspace I learned of a company called Cloudponics that was creating and wanted to market their automated hydro units. I was so spellbound that I invested significant coin into their vision. I will never see a penny returned to me. At that time I also put a deposit down on The Leaf, and soon after Seedo, and also Grobo. Eventually all deposits were returned. I ended up purchasing a hydro unit from BCNL that died....by the way, that company recently folded as well, as did Growbox USA. Going back to "Cloudponics" now, and as an investor and Beta tester, I had 2 of these machines in my home. Each machine ended up giving me a single grow, and then basically went on the fritz. Sure this was frustrating, but the takeaway was that this technology does exist. The huge problem with these well intention-ed start up companies, of course has to do with money. To go through appropriate research and development takes brilliant minds, hard work, and deep pockets when it comes to dollars. I am a late bloomer (pun intended), as only within the last 2 weeks have I come to learn of The Bloom. And in these past 2 weeks, Sir TJ, will attest that I've busted his chops more times than he or I can count. The lineage of The Bloom is like no other grow box company on the planet....Aerogarden---Scott's Miracle Grow---Hawthorne.....this is ASTOUNDING. I am learning features of The Bloom that every other company has only stated that they "hope" to include one day in their machines. Even my last hydroponic unit from BCNL came with a warning that the ambient temperature could not be above 82°. I ended up putting a hole in our laundry room venting to the outside, and installed a cheapo AC unit, to keep the room fairly cool. It was a joke, and cost me a lot of money. And when the machine died, what was I left with? The Bloom controls temp/humidity and this is a huge crucial game changer. Like a love struck fool, I spend daily time scrutinizing all of Bloom's features, and realize that all of you who are Beta testers have to be the happiest men and women on earth. My prayers are loud and clear for The Bloom to end Beta phase and fully come to market. Only because of my previous experiences I am forcing myself to wait for Beta to end. Scott's/Hawthorne/Aerogarden is my mantra. If anyone could guarantee an outcome for success, The Bloom's lineage comes up every time. I am keeping this post between myself and you growers. Spousal unit will never be reading this because I've gotten more flack than I can say when it comes to all of the grow boxes that have come and gone. As they say....Cannabis is not addictive, but growing it IS! I know it's not wise to wish time away, but clearly I cannot wait for The Bloom's next phase. In the meanwhile, I still get my kicks out of indoor growing, but presently just in soil from the company called Supercloset. Anyway, sending love to all of you who are putting The Bloom onto the map. Can't wait to be joining you, and huge thanks for your faith.

From personal experience, I have gotten cuttings (clones) from friends without either parties knowledge of powdery mildew. Some strains are more receptive to the fungi then others. That being said it can thrive in the right environments laying dormant. Beware of any leaves that look like this ^

Spores become airborne when disturbed so be careful not to allow them in the Bloom environment.

An organic remedy is a sulfur foliar spray which coats the leaves and effects the ph making it inhabitable for the fungi to live.

If you have a clean clone, the BLOOM will provide the perfect temperature, humidity and air flow to deter spore colonization.

Woowzer! I don't know if there is much to do now, so far along in the flower cycle unless you want to sacrifice some top colas to allow the lower growth to get more attention. maybe next time begin the flower cycle at half the size of this round and under cut HARD remove everything except the top three nodes. This has been a technique used my previous experience that feels very wrong when executing but it works! you should end up with few bud sites and nice big colas. It also will reduce your harvest time!

Check out this time-lapse from the company called three a light. This means they are yielding 3LBS A LIGHT which is very impressive for indoor growing.

If you notice how they strip off all of the foliage and love branches at the beginning of the time lapse. Then they stretch and begin to produce new leaves like crazy! They then do ANOTHER heavy de leave and pruning of weak branches.

The topped main stock is producing the next two main branches beautifully. I took off the two lower, weaker branches leaving me with four strong ones that will provide the structure for the the entire plant. Once these grow a bit more I will most likely repeat this process until it looks the ready for the flower.

      81a43ef1-5913-4bd7-859e-e1506ac5d055-image.png

You can tell the new roots from the old ones are much whiter and stronger. The old ones are browning which shouldn't be a problem but there could be a chance of root rot down the road.

This is how I started the ABK from seed but here are three papaya cake clones an indica leaning hybrid. These were put in the aero garden a few days ago. Not the same strain but it will be interesting to see how the clone takes off compared to seed. No roots yet but happy and perky.

      385f66fb-18bf-45c9-9344-4e6d25edd109-image.png

The new topped stack has two healthy new branches that have grown about 4inches since the topping.

The plant is still a bit droopy looking but growing well. Im hoping it will perk up this week, it may still be in shock from the environment change.

      8d0f1118-37e6-44bf-a8e9-200dddb92659-image.png

You can see there are four new branches growing off of the previously topped stock. I went ahead and topped each one again as well as removing larger fan leaves and weak under growth. You can see the old topped stock in the bottom of this image and the new topped branch in the upper part of the image. we will see how these grow in and evaluate next week whether to top or not again.

And we are officially over grown...

I did my best to train this plant down which it would be way past the lights if they weren't there. The technique works but the lower auxiliary branches are beginning to out grow the space. Luckily She is stacked and shooting out pistols so this phase of growth should be done. Now for bud formation. I hope it goes well with such a crowded cabinet.

This strain took off even more when it switched stages in to bloom.

It stretched about 10" in a weeks time. I didn't want to cut of the tops to I put in another trellis to bend the branches down giving the plant some more room before hitting the top lights. The branches find the light in a few days and regrow vertically.

Growing Sativa dominate strains in the bloom is much different then Indica dominate. I should have begun the bloom stages earlier.

Here are some pics of what I described above.

I then removed the largest fan leaves allowing for better light pentation to lower branches. I'm going to see how the plant bounces back from this shock and most likely remove some of the weak, spindly branches down low.

Some of the leaves were massive, blocking lots of light.

      Flap Jacks is all done!

The total dry weight of bud is 8.39 oz which is just over half a lb (we gave out a few buds before the official weight) so it was probably at 9 oz.

The interesting part is the amount of trim there was, 110 g which is a lot for one plant. The amount of leaves covered in trichomes was amazing, even not on the bud sites.

The plant structure grew many small buds opposed to large colas which is most likely why the weight is low but I am still pleased.

It dried out well in the bloom but next time I think ill cut the plant into a few pieces instead of keeping it as one. The end of the branches dried out quicker then the interior parts closer to the main stalk.

It has been jar curing for about two weeks and it's ready!

The smell and taste is like a sweet fruity Kellogg's cereal.

When opening a jar the whole house smells, its strong.

The high is very strong, I don't smoke as much anymore and I can barley take it. My daily smoker friends say its some of the "dopest dope they ever smoked" which says something for its quality

here are some photos of the final product
